Illicium floridanum Florida Anise. Native shrub or small tree.

Star-shaped blooms. Evergreen leaves have aroma of anise when crushed. Deer resistant. This is not the culinary anise and not a an edible substitute for it. Florida Anise is a threatened species and is protected. These plants are nursery cultivated and not dug in the wild. Florida Anise needs partial shade or full shade and regular water.
