Clethra alnifolia 'Hummingbird.' This is the selection made popular by Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia, where it is planted in mass around Hummingbird Lake. Native shrub with late summer flowers - very fragrant. Blooms last a month or more and smell sweet and spicy. Likes wet soil. Great near pond or stream. Tolerates salt and seashore conditions.
